James Frank Petras
(U.S.)Political philosopher. Essayist, researcher, leftist activist, professor of Sociology at New York State University at Birmingham. Graduated from Boston University in 1958, he has developed a huge body of research in the social field at different institutions such as the Institute of International Studies at the Berkley University, California, the Centre for the Study of Democratic Institutions, Penn State University and New York State University at Birmingham where he has been based since 1972. He has taught courses in Comparative Sociology, Developmental Sociology, Political Sociology, Analysis of Social Movements and International Relations, not to mention given many conferences and participated in a wide variety of social forums. He is the author of texts which have greatly influenced the world left-wing movement such as: Latin America: Dependency or Revolution (New York: John Wiley, 1973), Critical Perspectives about Imperialism and Social Classes (New York: Monthly Review, 1978), Latin America: Bankers, Generals and the Struggle for Social Justice (Rowman and Littlefield, 1986), Empire or Republic: Global Power and Domestic Decadence in the U.S. of the Nineties (Routledge, 1995) and The Continuation of History (Cides La Paz, 1996).

Luis Suarez Salazar
(Cuba) Graduated with a degree in Communication Sciences in the University of Havana. Currently he is Principal Advisor to the President of the National Assembly of People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba. Member of the Permanent Cuban Mission at the U.N. from 1977 until 1983. Representative in the Decolonization Committee and the Political Committee during this period. U.N. Representative for the Dissemination of Information about Decolonization (1980-1983). U.S. Specialist in the Ministry of Foreign Relations (1983-1992). Associate Director for the Scientific Work of the Institute of International Affairs (192-1995). Advisor to the Commission on International Affairs in the National Assembly of the People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba (1995-1997). He has written various articles for national and international magazines and participated in many academic events, both in Cuba and abroad.

Mario Andres Solano
(Costa Rica) Psychology Degree with a Master in Sociology, both from the University of Costa Rica.
He has been professor and researcher in various socially oriented projects such as “Authoritarianism within the urban Costa Rican electorate” and “State Legitimization in daily consciousness”. Currently, he leads the project “Elements for a theory about the social production of violence”. His published books include “The psychology of social classes”. (ALMA MATER Press, University of Costa Rica, Costa Rica, 1987) “Daily Consciousness, Authoritarianism and mass public media” (University of Costa Rica Press, San Jose, 1991), “Daily Consciousness and Hegemonic apparatus”(University of Guadalajara press, Mexico, 1992), “The Legitimization of the State within Daily Consciousness” (Co-edited by the University of Costa Rica Press and the Technological Press of the Technological institute of Costa Rica, 1999). He is also author of several monographs, newspaper articles and papers for conventions, seminars and conferences.

Santi Dunaiturria Zumarraga
(Durango/Bizkaia, Basque Region) Graduate in law and Economic Sciences, he works as a Consultant in International Marketing and teaches courses in Foreign Commerce in the Chamber of Commerce of Bilbao (Bizkaia), and he is professor/tutor in MACEX (Master of Foreign Commerce in the University of the Basque Region)
He has written various books focusing on the labour field, such as “Corporation Administration and Foreign Commerce and Public Aid for Internationalization of the Corporation”. He is also author of short articles that have been published by the newspaper Gara and the magazine Spanish Commercial Information of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce.

Gehan Gunasekara
(Sri Lanka) Lawyer, professor in the Faculty of Commerce and Economy in Auckland University, New Zealand. He teaches courses for commerce and law students and graduates. He has published essays on various legal topics in his country and abroad. He contributes regularly to news broadcasts with commentaries on the social activities of left-wing groups in New Zealand. An active member of anti-nuclear and pro-social justice movements since the 1980’s.
